Minister of Students and Young Adults

OVERVIEW

True Life Church of Jefferson City, TN is searching for a full-time Minister of Students and Young Adults. The church is located about five minutes from Carson-Newman University, which presents an excellent opportunity to reach young adults. True Life was planted 23 years ago. The current attendance is 400+. TLC is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and the Pillar Network. They are an elder-led, congregational church with emphases on expository preaching, next generation ministries, small group, missions, and church planting. They believe it is their job as Christ-followers to train up the next generation. To do so, they need someone who has a heart for Jesus, a desire to share His truth with teenagers and young adults, and someone who is willing to walk alongside parents as they train up their children. The ideal candidate is someone who has a track record of meeting people where they are, being evangelistic and missional, discipling teens and young adults, and raising up leaders.

• Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in ministry, biblical studies, theology, education, or a related field (equivalent ministry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education)

  • Experience serving in student ministry, young adult ministry, or a comparable leadership role

  • Demonstrated ability to teach Scripture effectively

  • Experience recruiting and leading volunteer teams

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Student Ministry Leadership

  • Provide overall leadership and vision for student ministry (grades 5–12)

  • Implement a comprehensive discipleship strategy that helps students grow spiritually

  • Plan, prepare, and teach biblically sound lessons during weekly student gatherings

  • Create discussion guides and small-group curriculum as needed

• Young Adult Ministry Leadership

  • Facilitate Bible studies, discipleship groups, and fellowship opportunities

  • Engage local college campuses and young adults in the community through intentional outreach

• Parent Partnership

  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding ministry events, spiritual development opportunities, and important updates

  • Equip and encourage parents to be the primary spiritual influencers in their children’s lives

• Volunteer Leadership

  • Recruit, train, equip, and care for volunteer leaders

• Outreach and Evangelism

  • Develop strategies to connect with unchurched students and young adults

  • Maintain an active presence in local schools, community activities, and campus ministries when appropriate

• Lead and coordinate various ministry events with responsibilities including planning, budgeting, volunteer coordination, communication, logistics, and follow-up

• Student Leadership Development

  • Identify, mentor, and equip emerging student leaders to lead devotionals, Bible studies, prayer gatherings, and ministry opportunities
