OVERVIEW

South Side Baptist Church of Abilene, TX is seeking a full-time Associate Pastor of Biblical Counseling. They are a growing church in a college town committed to expositional preaching, Reformation theology, elder-led congregationalism, regenerate church membership, leadership training, complementarianism, and a culture of discipleship.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Meets the biblical qualifications

  • Seminary training and 8+ years of ministry experience required

  • Must be a strong biblical counselor with significant training in biblical counseling

  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, be flexible, and work with little supervision

  • Commitment to and in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000

  • Maintain regular office hours and be on-the-job 40 plus hours per week

  • Committed to life-long learning

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primary Biblical counselor and trainer of counselors

  • Goal of establishing a free Center for Biblical Counseling

  • Do the work of an elder: shepherd the flock, counsel, disciple, train, marry, bury, etc

  • Regularly disciple church members and train them to disciple others

  • Equip members to be the primary disciple-makers of their children

  • Build a culture of discipleship and counseling

  • Mobilize more people to pursue ACBC certification

  • Teach occasionally for Sunday School, Midweek, and college/youth

  • Help the other staff with the Residency/Internship program to develop leaders

  • Assist the Lead Pastor as needs arise and available to perform other duties as assigned by the elders
