Executive Pastor of Discipleship

OVERVIEW

River Stone Fellowship is seeking an Executive Pastor of Discipleship to serve the Church by ensuring that all ministries are growing toward the same end; for River Stone Fellowship to be a Jesus-centered family, making disciples who reach the world with the Gospel, through worship, community, mission, and multiplication. This pastor is not a corporate manager, but a called shepherd—marked by humility, clarity, and faithfulness—who helps bring order, focus, and fruitfulness to the life of the Church.

He partners closely with the Lead Pastor and Elders in shepherding the body and guiding the Church’s direction, while also giving specific oversight to the leadership and development of the staff, the integration of ministries, and the intentional movement of people from connection to maturity. He works alongside the Pastor of Operations to ensure that the ministry is sustainable and supported, and he leads by equipping others, not by doing everything himself.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Meets the biblical qualifications for elder (1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9; 1 Peter 5:1–5)

  • Proven pastoral leadership experience overseeing ministries and leaders

  • Demonstrated ability to design, strengthen, and implement a church-wide discipleship pathway

  • Doctrinally sound, relationally wise, and committed to complementarian convictions (male-only elders and deacons)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, care, and accountability for ministry staff and their teams

  • Ensure every ministry is aligned with River Stone’s mission, values, and discipleship pathway

  • Equip and multiply leaders who can disciple others across all age groups and life stages

  • Partner with the Pastor of Operations to ensure ministries are well-supported, resourced, and executed with excellence

  • Lead strategic ministry planning, moving vision and theology into intentional rhythms, environments, and outcomes

  • Shape and sustain a healthy, prayerful, unified staff culture marked by humility, grace, and mission focus

  • Share in the pastoral care of the Church family, investing relationally in members and leaders

  • Attend weekly staff meetings and the weekend LargeGroup Gathering

  • Participate in a LifeGroup and other processes required of all staff
