Church Planting Resident
OVERVIEW
Redeemer Fellowship holds tightly to the core commitments of gospel centrality, biblical sufficiency, family diversity, engaged community, and kingdom generosity. As a church of roughly 120 in current weekly average attendance, their various ministry endeavors are heavily Word-based with five weekly Bible studies, a thriving Youth ministry and monthly gatherings for both men and those inclined towards the original biblical languages.
They are seeking a church planting resident with both a shepherd’s heart and an entrepreneurial spirit for strategic multiplication— someone who loves the local church, thrives in relational ministry, and preaches/teaches the Word in gospel-centered ways.
The RFK Church Planting Resident will come alongside the Lead Pastor to shadow, observe, learn, practice and lead within the local church context. Ample opportunity will be given for the resident to exercise their giftings, strengthen their weaknesses and develop insights that will be needed for church multiplication, whether that is in Kuwait, the ME, in their country of origin, or in the future location God lays on their heart.
QUALIFICATIONS
Mature and growing relationship with Jesus, marked by gospel dependence, servant leadership, and emotional health
Theological alignment with Acts 29, The Pillar Network and Redeemer’s statement of faith and mission
At least 3–5 years of pastoral experience in a gospel-centered, missional church context
Strong systems thinker with a demonstrated ability to build and manage ministry frameworks
Highly relational and gifted as one who will cast vision and build a church from the ‘ground up’
M.Div. or comparable theological training preferred but not required with sufficient experience
Proven experience starting and leading various gospel-centered initiatives, multiplying leaders and launching new ministries or communities
Humility, gospel fluency, and a love for people and the local church
RESPONSIBILITIES
Regional Assessment: Research & Develop
Determine the overall need for and a pathway forward for planting a gospel-centered church in at least three areas of the world: Kuwait in specific, the Gulf in general, and any other local around the world
Prayerfully consider where God would be leading you considering your strengths and weakness, cultural fluency for the area, family considerations, ability to gather a core team, etc.
Come alongside the Lead Pastor to determine a strategy for implementing the vision for said church plant
Raise necessary funds and begin gathering a core team, even remotely if necessary
Ministry Engagement: Serve & Share
Participate and/or lead any and all ministries within the church
Preah and/or teach at least twice a month
Build meaningful relationships with people outside RFK and outside the church in cross-culturally and cross-religiously appropriate ways
Ministry Systems: Administration & Implementation
Learn any and all administrative systems associated with the church, including but not limited to finance, communication, and organization
Determine what systems will be appropriate and/or beneficial for your future context and find suitable replacements where needed
Develop scalable structures that support future growth, without compromising gospel centrality or relational depth

This position should be seen as a one-year commitment by the applicant and his family. Generally speaking, those applicants considered from within Kuwait or the Majority World will be provided a small stipend. Those applicants from outside Kuwait will need to assume they are expected to come with their own financial support secured. This support should be gathered and managed by a third-party non-profit organization.
Unfortunately, RFK is not able to provide visas for pastoral residence at this time. This issue will be discussed with applicants who are considered strong candidates for the position.
