Pastoral Intern

OVERVIEW

Redeemer Fellowship holds tightly to the core commitments of gospel centrality, biblical sufficiency, family diversity, engaged community, and kingdom generosity. As a church of roughly 120 in current weekly average attendance, their various ministry endeavors are heavily Word-based with five weekly Bible studies, a thriving Youth ministry and monthly gatherings for both men and those inclined towards the original biblical languages.

They are seeking Pastoral Interns who can come alongside the elders and deacons of RFK in the ministry of the church, who are looking to grow in their understanding of God’s Word and gospel-centered ministry, and who are looking to discern their place in local church ministry.

Pastoral Interns at RFK will engage in ministry initiatives on a number of levels. There will be a heavy component centered on reading through pertinent texts on Bible, theology, ministry, and spiritual formation for Christian leadership. They will also ‘lend a helping’ hand whenever the church is gathered together. Any and all activities associated with local church ministry are fair game!

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Mature and growing relationship with Jesus, marked by gospel dependence, servant leadership, and emotional health

  • Theological alignment with Acts 29, The Pillar Network and Redeemer’s statement of faith and mission

  • At least two references given by men at your church who know you well

  • A willingness to serve joyfully in whatever capacity is asked

  • Relationally focused and team-oriented, able to engage with people from various cultures and backgrounds

  • A desire to grow, learn, and contribute

  • Humility, gospel fluency, and a love for people and the local church

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read, Discuss, Report:

    • Meaningfully engage with the texts provided by pastoral staff

    • Participate in weekly discussions around the required readings

    • Type up and submit a report for each text that is roughly one-page single-spaced per chapter

    • Meet with one pastoral staff/elder each week to discuss life and ministry.

  • Serve, Serve, Serve:

    • Expect to show up early and stay late for all church-wide functions, typically being the first to arrive and the last to leave

    • Seek to help any and all ministry teams that are actively engaged during church functions (set up chairs, arrange the meeting space, produce needed materials, step up when originally scheduled volunteers are unable to make it)

    • Learn everybody’s name and listen to their stories. Pray for them when appropriate. The task isn’t the ministry, the people are.

  • Teach, Preach, Sing, Play, Pray:

    • With enough experience through observation, they will be called upon to facilitate Bible studies, teach on certain topics, or perhaps preach, if the need and occasion arises

    • Those with musical ability should feel the freedom to serve in the Music Ministry through singing and playing instruments in a corporate worship setting

    • Encouraged to pray together for the overall health and growth of the church, the needs of the church and its members, and the advancement of the Gospel through the work of the Spirit

MORE INFO & APPLYING

The internship is a brief season in life when an individual makes sacrifices in preparation for ministry. For accepted applicants from within Kuwait, the church provides a small stipend to help cover living expenses. However, the internship program does not provide substantive financial support. Western applicants are expected to fund themselves through a non-profit organization.

Unfortunately, RFK is not able to provide visas for pastoral staff at this time. This consideration will be discussed with applicants who are considered strong candidates for the position.
