Lead Pastor

OVERVIEW

First Southern Baptist Church of Wickenburg in Wickenburg, Arizona, is seeking a pastor/shepherd to lead God’s flock. They are an 80 year old church with an age diverse group of believers who center around the sufficiency and authority of Scripture, in order to worship God as their response to the gospel, walk with God by living out the gospel, and witness about God to their community by sharing the gospel, for the sake of His glory in response to the gospel. They believe “all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16) and the calling of the Lord Jesus to “go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation” (Mark 16:15).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • He must fulfill the qualifications for pastor as listed in 1 Tim. 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9

  • Strong spiritual character

  • Have his family and finances in order according to Scripture

  • Person of pastoral sensitivity and able to relate and connect with people

  • Able to affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000

  • Have a heart for ministry and a God given ability to love and lead the church

  • Seminary education is preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Public Ministry of the Word: Plan and conduct worship services through expositional preaching as the normative means of proclaiming God’s truth, lead in the observation of the ordinances and manage the pulpit in his absence

  • Private Ministry of the Word and Prayer: Provide pastoral care through biblical counseling, prayer and member visitation

  • Evangelism: Lead and demonstrate effective ways to witness and reach the lost

  • Shepherding: Lead the congregation in effective ways to fulfill the great commission, work with committees, deacons and love the members as Christ loves the church

  • Equip the Saints: Disciple members and train up elders
