OVERVIEW

Edgefield Church in Nashville, TN is seeking a full-time Pastoral Assistant to provide a young man aspiring to pastoral ministry the opportunity to learn, grow, and be tested underneath the leadership of an experienced team of elders. This is viewed as a 1-2 year position, where he will be intentionally trained to become a pastor, with the hopes of joyfully being sent to another church following his time at Edgefield. His time and responsibilities will be roughly divided into two-parts: 1) Training and Development and 2) General Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong aspiration to the office of pastor/elder

  • Affirmation of pastoral potential and/or gifting by your local church elders

  • Demonstrated personal ministry experience in a local church (i.e. teaching, discipling, counseling)

  • Ability to faithfully teach God’s Word to adults and youth, along with an eagerness to grow

  • Eagerness to initiate personal Word-centered ministry as a faithful church member

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, some experience managing and/or leading church volunteers is preferable

  • MA/MDiv completed or currently in progress preferable

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regularly spend time meeting with the pastoral staff discussing various assigned readings related to the church and pastoral ministry

  • Teach in Sunday evening service, Youth Sunday School, and/or Adult Sunday School

  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and take minutes for both elder meetings (monthly) and members meetings (bi-monthly)

  • Opportunity to shadow the pastoral staff and/or elders in various contexts

  • May complete various writing projects, and/or take on additional leadership responsibilities of church’s youth ministry

  • Provide general administrative support to the staff and elders
