Pastoral Apprentice
OVERVIEW
The Church At Mon River is seeking a man who aspires toward pastoral ministry to get practical training and experience through their Pastoral Apprenticeship. The apprentice will learn pastoral ministry through one-on-one mentorship from the Lead Pastor and by getting hands-on experience in ministry leadership, missional engagement, and teaching. The church is a multi-cultural and multi-generational congregation in the Baptist tradition that meets in the urban core of Pittsburgh PA, five minutes from major universities. They exist to make followers of Jesus who see individuals, families, and neighborhoods restored to God’s design.

Fulfills the Biblical character qualifications of a leader in the church and affirms the church’s statement of beliefs (see the Self-Assessment at www.atmonriver.com/jobs)
Committed to following the pastors of the church
Sense of calling to ministry and heart for missions
Teachable, team oriented, and self-starter with administrative experience
Actively serving in a local church with proven leadership in evangelism and missions
Demonstrate passion for the following values: dependence upon God in prayer and His Word, multiplication of disciples and leaders, diversity, and compassion
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Enrollment in or completion of theological education is preferred but not required
RESPONSIBILITIES
Learning through actually doing ministry, weekly reading assignments, and weekly discussions with the Lead Pastor on readings and ministry experiences
Attending national pastor conferences and local pastor gatherings.
Lead others on ministry teams
Plan and officiate worship services
Disciple individuals and lead small groups within the church
Assist the Lead Pastor with sermon preparation and teaching
Discover needs in the community and explore creative ways the church can meet them by organizing outreach events
Collaborate with other partner ministries
Engage in personal evangelism
