Associate Pastor of Students and Families

OVERVIEW

Seaford Baptist Church in Seaford, VA is seeking an Associate Pastor to serve on the SBC pastoral team to shepherd the students and families of Seaford Baptist Church through performing various duties including ministering to the spiritual needs of middle school and high school students attending Seaford Baptist Church and ministering to the spiritual needs of families by providing training and resources to parents. He is also expected to contribute to the unity of the staff and pastoral team through fellowship, encouragement, cooperation, and prayer support as he serves his Lord Jesus Christ and the church.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Clear testimony of faith and a vital personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ

  • Clear understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

  • Consistent spiritual and moral character and lifestyle complying with the biblical leadership qualifications described in 1 Timothy 3:1-13/Titus 1:6-9, as well as the constitution/By-laws of Seaford Baptist Church

  • Agreement with the doctrinal statement of Southern Baptist Convention’s “Baptist Faith and Message 2000"

  • Potential to remain in a long-term pastoral ministry position at Seaford Baptist Church

  • Student ministry experience preferred

  • Adequate skill, training and education for the position. Completion of an undergraduate degree is required, Seminary degree is desirable

  • Spiritual gifts relevant to pastoral ministry

  • Knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Canva, Facebook and Instagram

  • Committed to the ministry philosophy, programs and theology of Seaford Baptist Church

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the Student Ministry of Seaford Baptist Church, while also providing pastoral care and guidance for families as they pursue spiritual health

  • Work with the Student Ministry Leadership Team to cast vision, plan and execute ministry and keep the Student Ministry connected to the overall life and direction of the church

  • Various Weekly Responsibilities

  • Support of the entire church ministry and activities

  • Attendance of all Church Council meetings/Deacon meetings/Members’ meetings — prepared to report on ministry work, when appropriate

  • Work with the Student Ministry Leadership Team to find/create and implement curriculum that will provide a comprehensive Christian worldview for students

  • Work with the Children’s Director to provide training, retreats and resources for parents and families throughout the year

  • Work with the Children’s Director to create and sustain a 4th-5th grade ministry for Midweek and Sunday mornings

  • Serve as a member of the Upward Basketball Leadership Team and a leader in the Upward Basketball ministry

  • Consult Senior Pastor on plans and policies

  • Provide opportunities for students to serve within the Student Ministry, while also connecting them to service in the larger church body

  • Work with the Office Manager and Media Director to provide regular communication with parents regarding what is happening in the Student Ministry

  • Oversee all major ministries within the Student Ministry, to include personally teaching on a recurring basis on Sunday mornings, Midweek meetings, camps, and mission trips

  • Work with the Senior Pastor to ensure that seniors have a smooth transition into the Young Adult ministry of the church

  • Assist in teaching the church by filling the pulpit 4-6 times per year on Sunday mornings as a member of the pastoral team

  • Other possible duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
