Associate Pastor of Family Discipleship
OVERVIEW
Raleigh Road Baptist Church in Wilson, NC is seeking an Associate Pastor of Family Discipleship that will help develop RRBC’s ministry focus to children and their families, with specific oversight given towards student (middle/high school) and college age ministry. As a fellow staff elder/pastor of RRBC the Associate Pastor of Family Discipleship may also support RRBC in various duties such as preaching, counseling, community outreach, and collaborating with the Lead-Teaching Pastor on strategic church initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Credible conversion testimony representing at least 6+ years
History of faithful service in the local church representing at least 6+ years (i.e. either vocational/nonvocational) for which ministry giftedness in preaching/teaching/evangelism have been assessed and validated, biblical/theological knowledge affirmed, and spiritual/social/emotional maturity measured and confirmed by the previous church/references
At least 2+ years of ministry experience working with students for which a genuine passion and gifting have been established
Emotional maturity, humility, teachability, and an outgoing and joyful disposition
Strong collaborator who leads and communicates well but is also committed to the multiplication of leaders
Measurable ability to communicate the gospel and a desire to teach it effectively
Demonstrates a pattern of integrity and honesty
Educational requirement: Robust understanding of scripture/theology both intellectually and practically demonstrated throughout interview process, through references, and by way of a measurable track record within the life and ministry of the local church
Educational preference: A Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, or a related field; a Master’s Degree from a qualified seminary is a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Ministry (90%): Responsible for helping develop, train, and lead RRBC’s ministry focus to students (e.g. middle/high school) and their families through various responsibilities including:
Organize and lead weekly ministry gatherings
Teach and preach within the student ministry
Engage with students though school and recreational activities
Recruit, train, and equip adult members of RRBC within the student team
Help new families feel welcomed and seen as a church
Equip parents/guardians to become the primary disciple makers of their children
Oversee the student ministry calendar (e.g. trip/events) as well as student budget
College Aged Ministry (10%): RRBC currently has a ministry presence at Barton College with more potential opportunities. Responsibilities in this area include:
Act as a liaison for the college ministry with the elders of the church
Act as a source of encouragement and communication in helping those currently leading this ministry to maintain a cohesive and consistent focus/philosophy with the whole of RRBC
Prayerfully determine potential involvement/oversight of this ministry focus as time, ministry desire, and wisdom allow
