Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Care
OVERVIEW
Denver Baptist Church in Denver, NC is seeking an Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Care. The Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Care is responsible for membership, assimilation and engagement, the development and promotion of adult educational ministries, and providing pastoral care to the members of DBC. This ministry role will focus on proactive member care, developing corporate discipleship structures, providing 1-1 discipleship, and building out a biblical counseling culture.
Denver Baptist is an elder-led, congregationally governed church. Upon confirmation by the congregation, this person will join the elder team and perform the general duties of a pastor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Meets the biblical qualifications for elder (1 Timothy 3:1–7; Titus 1:5–9; 1 Peter 5:1–5)
M.Div or equivalent preferred
In agreement with DBC's statement of faith and church covenant
Proven pastoral leadership experience overseeing ministries and leaders
Demonstrated ability to design, strengthen, and implement a church-wide discipleship pathway
Doctrinally sound, relationally wise, and committed to the priorities of Denver Baptist Church
Committed to historic Baptist ecclesiology and practice
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a vital relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, study of God's Word, worship, personal evangelism, and fellowship with believers
Nurture a healthy and growing relationship with his wife and family (If married)
Give leadership to the church's educational ministry, including Bible Fellowship and small groups, and lead adults toward becoming disciples who advance the Gospel
Recruit and schedule all teachers for Bible Fellowship classes, small groups, and other discipleship classes
Oversee the curriculum for the Adult Bible Fellowship and small groups
Oversee processes and assimilation of new members into the life of the church
Give oversight to the Men's and Women's Ministry
Prepare and oversee budgets for Discipleship and Care Ministries
Develop counseling resources and pastoral care processes for DBC members
Devote time weekly to pastoral counseling
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Pastor
