OVERVIEW
First Baptist Church of Laurel (FBCL) is situated between Baltimore and Washington D.C. The area is notably international with many countries represented. The church has served within the greater Laurel Area for over 130 years. Membership consists of approximately 550 people including a Spanish speaking congregation of approximately 140 people that is led by a Spanish speaking pastor. Average Sunday morning church attendance is 435. Our values include:

QUALIFICATIONS
Meets Elder qualifications set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
Affirms the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and displays sound doctrine.
Affirms commitment to our values.
Is faithful and effective in preaching and teaching.
Has a commitment to, and experience in developing a healthy church.
Has a commitment to, and experience in serving with a plurality and parity of Elders in a context of congregational government.
Is relational with the ability to relate well to persons with a broad range of ages and ethnic backgrounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Be the primary preacher, and teach in other smaller settings as needed.
Oversee and take part in the worship services.
Lead the church; regularly planning for and communicating the overall vision and direction.
Lead the Elder team.
Supervise the Executive Pastor.
Develop leaders and preachers.
Challenge, encourage, and develop the congregation for local and global outreach.
Regularly disciple others in formal and informal settings.
When possible, support and, at times, take part in other ministry offerings and events.
Along with Elders, Deacons, and members, contact the sick and shut-in.
Conduct counseling and perform weddings and funerals as needed.
Represent FBCL to its ministry partners.
