Associate Pastor

OVERVIEW

Del Cerro Baptist Church in La Mesa, CA is prayerfully seeking a new Associate Pastor to join the eldership of the church. They are an Elder-led, congregationally-governed, liturgically-minded, hymn-singing, confessionally Baptist church located in the suburbs of San Diego, California. They are a family of ~120 members, comprised of both young families and older saints.

The Associate Pastor role will be shaped around the candidate’s own giftings and talents. The ideal candidate will have a combination of pastoral and administrative gifts.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Meets the biblical qualifications of an elder and possesses a shepherd’s heart (1 Tim. 3:1-7; Tit. 1:5-9; 1 Pet. 5:1-5)

• Reputation for managing his household well and leading effectively in the church

• Convictionally aligned with the theology, worship and practice of DCBC (BFM2000 with an eye to the 1689LBC)

• Ties to California or the Western United States preferred, along with a desire for a long-term commitment to the region

• M. Div preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Actively oversee the administration of the church

• Share the shepherding of church members by providing pastoral care through biblical counseling, prayer, visitation, regular hospitality, and personal discipling relationships

• Share the ministry of God’s Word through teaching, preaching and discipleship

• Share the training of men and future elders

• Experience in leading music a plus, but not necessary

• More specific responsibilities related to the candidates' giftings are to be discussed further with interested candidates
