Summer Pastoral Internship

OVERVIEW

The Nansemond River Baptist Church in Suffolk, Virginia, is offering a Summer Pastoral Internship designed for Bible college and seminary men who aspire to pastoral ministry and want to develop real-world ministry experience in a healthy, mission-focused church. This immersive internship goes beyond the classroom, offering hands-on training and direct mentorship from experienced pastoral leaders. Over the course of the summer, interns will serve approximately 40 hours per week for 10 weeks, from May 24 to August 9, with a scheduled break from June 30 to July 6.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Throughout the summer, interns will grow in essential pastoral competencies, including:

    • Healthy ecclesiology

    • Pastoral care and shepherding

    • Evangelism and missions mobilization

    • Preaching and sermon preparation

    • Discipleship and group ministry programming

    • Worship planning and coordination

    • Church leadership and administration

Total compensation: $6,000

This internship is also offered in partnership with Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary through the EQUIP Network, providing eligible students the opportunity to earn accredited seminary credit while gaining hands-on ministry experience. Participants may earn up to 36 credit hours toward their degree as they integrate theological training with practical service under the guidance of qualified mentors.
